Unknown thieves hit ATMs in Byahatti and Sulla villages of Hubballi taluk before dawn on Thursday, September 17, 2026. We saw police put the combined cash loss at more than ₹14 lakh. Our sources said both machines sat inside Hubballi rural limits.
Watch the enclosed video from the Byahatti site. Officers say the shutter lock there was forced around 3 a.m. More than ₹3 lakh was taken from that machine alone.
CCTV units inside and outside the Byahatti ATM were damaged after the theft. Police read that as an attempt to wipe the trail. A similar strike followed at the Sulla village ATM, even though the kiosk stands in the village centre.
DYSP Vinod Muktedar and Inspector Murugesh Chennannavar walked both spots. A dog squad and fingerprint team joined the first inspection. Cases are on record and the hunt for the accused is open.
