
Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) Deputy Commissioner (Development), Vijayakumar Ramanaik, has bagged the prestigious state-level “V.K. Excellence and Honor” award.
The award was presented jointly by The Times of India and Vijay Karnataka to recognize his hard work in engineering and local infrastructure development across the twin cities. Belagavi MP Jagadish Shettar handed over the prestigious award to Ramanaik for his tremendous contribution.
The news was revealed via a Facebook post on the HDMC official account. A series of photos of the event were posted.
Driving Development in Hubballi-Dharwad
As Deputy Commissioner for Development, Ramanaik has been actively handling key projects in Hubballi and Dharwad. From upgrading road networks to improving public facilities and drainage systems, his efforts have helped push several long-pending urban projects forward.

The award has brought big cheer to the municipal body. Members of the HDMC council, senior officials, and staff members came together to congratulate Ramanaik on the achievement.
“This award shows the hard work Mr. Ramanaik has put into building better infrastructure for Hubballi-Dharwad. We congratulate him and wish him all the best for his future work,” an HDMC official present during the event said.
The recognition is expected to boost the department’s momentum as it continues working on new infrastructure projects in the twin cities.
Cleanliness drive in Hubli
On September 28, 2026, Ramanaik participated and contributed voluntary labor (Shramdaan) in the mass cleanliness drive organized by the Municipal Corporation under the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign at the premises and surrounding areas of Sri Siddharoodha Math in Hubballi.
Honorable Municipal Commissioner Mr. Rudresh Ghali, Chief Accounts Officer Mr. Shankaranand Banashankari, Executive Engineer of Solid Waste Management Mr. Santoshkumar Yarangalli, Zonal Commissioners, Environment Engineers, Health Inspectors, and our proud Pourakarmikas (sanitation workers) were also present during this event.
