A karate self-defense training camp was held at the Government School in Nagarahalli village near Mantur in Dharwad district. The National Service Scheme (NSS), Nasha Mukt Yuva, and Chinmaya PU College of Science and Commerce, Hubballi, organized the one-day session.
Sensei Nagaraj Miskin, a 3rd Dan black belt in Goju-Ryu Karate-Do from Aspire Sports Karate Academy in Hubballi, conducted the training. The camp focused on basic self-defense techniques, personal safety awareness, discipline, and confidence building for the students.
Students took part in practical sessions on defensive moves. Organizers thanked the school principal, NSS volunteers, teachers, and staff for their support.
Miskin said the program aimed to show younger students the value of karate for safety and self-control. The Facebook post posted by Nagaraj Miskin described the day as a chance to promote safer habits among youth.

The session covered simple techniques that students can use in everyday situations. No exact date or number of participants appeared in the Facebook post about the camp. Similar short self-defense programs have been held in government schools across Karnataka in recent years.
Why learning karate helps children
Kids who start karate early often get more than just punches and kicks. The training forces them to listen, wait their turn, and keep trying even when a move feels hard.
Many coaches say the routine builds patience and helps children handle frustration without losing their temper.
Regular practice also improves balance and coordination, which shows up in sports and everyday play. Parents sometimes notice their kids stand taller and speak more clearly after a few months of class.
The physical work burns energy, and the rules of the dojo give children a clear sense of respect for others. Those habits tend to stick long after the training session ends.
