Laxmi Hebbalkar and Dr. Tontada Mahaswami inaugurate Gurubhavan in Bengaluru

Belagavi Rural MLA Laxmi Hebbalkar joined Dr. Tontada Siddharama Mahaswami in cutting the ribbon on a new Gurubhavan at Sri Shivabasava Swamiji Kalyana Kendra in Jayanagar, Bengaluru, on October 7, 2026. In her post, she said she took part in the opening. The inauguration was by Siddharama Mahaswami of the Edelyur math at Dambal-Gadag. Dr. Allamaprabhu Mahaswami of Naganur Rudrakshimath led the programme.

She called it a religious and cultural event held with devotion. She hoped the Gurubhavan, built for the good of society and for the spread of culture and values, would keep serving devotees and the public.

Who attended the opening

MLAs Mahanthuresh Koujalagi and Babasaheb Patil were present. Mahantesh Biradar attended. Shambhu Hiremath, secretary of the Kalyana Kendra, was named among the organisers. Hebbalkar said other dignitaries and devotees were there as well.

The Edelyur math is at Dambal in Gadag district, a Veerashaiva seat whose seers are addressed as Tontada Siddharama. Naganur Rudrakshimath is a separate math. Allamaprabhu Mahaswami led the Jayanagar programme.

The Kalyana Kendra is a community hall in Jayanagar, in south Bengaluru. A Gurubhavan on a site like this is a hall for the math’s work with devotees, not a government building. The one opened on Tuesday is new.
