WATCH: Tamil Nadu CM Vijay Says ‘Just Refuse the Bribe, I Am With You’ — Video Goes Viral

Tamil Nadu CM Joseph Vijay speaking at Karur rally viral bribe video
Karur, Tamil Nadu, saw a fiery moment on Friday, July 10, 2026, when Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay told citizens to flatly refuse bribe demands during his first official visit to the district since the deadly stampede. “If anyone demands a bribe from you, just say you won’t pay it. I am with you,” Vijay declared at a public meeting. The video clip spread fast across social media within hours.

What the Chief Minister Told the Crowd

Vijay didn’t stop at one line. He pushed further, urging people to invoke his name if officials pressed harder for money.

Speaking atop his campaign bus, he framed himself as protector of ordinary families. Reports from The Week quote him urging citizens to tell corrupt officials, “This is our son… our Vijay. This is Vijay’s government.”

He claimed zero corruption has occurred in state offices since his TVK government took charge two months ago. “Not even a single paisa” is being taken as graft, he told the crowd, per Business Standard.

Why the Video Went Viral

The clip landed just as political tensions spiked. The Madras High Court had granted anticipatory bail earlier in the week to DMK leader V. Senthil Balaji and his brother, tied to an alleged ₹35 crore bribe plot against the TVK government.

Vijay’s Karur visit came nearly 10 months after a stampede killed 41 people at his party rally in September 2025. He handed compassionate job appointments to 31 victims’ families during the same trip.

The Bigger Political Picture

Vijay also slammed the opposition DMK, calling the party an “evil force” ahead of upcoming local body by-elections. Political watchers say the anti-bribery message doubles as a campaign pitch, positioning TVK as the clean alternative to Tamil Nadu’s older Dravidian parties.
