Karnataka health department raids Bengaluru hotels expired food seized

On August 8, 2026, the Karnataka Health Department launched surprise raids across Bengaluru’s luxury hotels. Over 30 inspection teams entered kitchens and storage areas to check hygiene standards, food safety, and banned items. Officials said the crackdown was aimed at protecting public health after complaints of poor practices.

Officials confirmed raids will continue through the week. More reports are expected as teams expand checks to mid-range hotels and popular restaurants. Bengaluru residents are watching closely, hoping the drive improves food safety standards citywide.
