PM Rahat Scheme 2026: ₹1.5 Lakh Cashless Treatment, How to Apply

PM Rahat Scheme ₹1.5 lakh cashless road accident treatment how to apply 112

PM-RAHAT gives road accident victims cashless hospital care up to ₹1.5 lakh for seven days from the date of the crash. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways describes the scheme as a cover for any motor-vehicle accident on any Indian road.   Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched it on February 13, 2026, under Section 162 of the Motor Vehicles Act.

Full name: Prime Minister – Road Accident Victims’ Hospitalisation and Assured Treatment.

Drivers, passengers, pedestrians, cyclists, and bystanders can use it. Foreign nationals injured in a motor-vehicle crash in India are also eligible.

Call 112. A victim, family member, or Rah-Veer (good Samaritan) can ask for an ambulance and the nearest designated hospital. Police must be told so the case is entered into the eDAR digital accident report.

Stabilisation runs up to 24 hours in non-life-threatening cases and up to 48 hours in life-threatening cases, subject to police authentication. Treatment after that continues cashless up to ₹1.5 lakh or seven days, whichever ends first, at designated or PM-JAY empanelled hospitals that meet NHA rules.

PM Rahat Scheme Benefits and How to Avail

No separate application form exists. Hospitals start care without an advance deposit. Staff log the case on TMS 2.0. Police confirm the accident on eDAR. State health agencies are to pay accepted hospital claims within 10 days from the Motor Vehicle Accident Fund.

Insured offending vehicles draw payout from insurer contributions into that fund. Hit-and-run and uninsured cases use a central budget line. Details also sit in the PM RAHAT module on the m-Parivahan app and on morth.gov.in and nha.gov.in.

MoRTH has said nearly half of road deaths can be avoided if the injured reach a hospital in the first hour. PM-RAHAT is built around that golden hour, not a cash transfer into a bank account. Unofficial sites listing ₹5,000 DBT aid are mixing this scheme with other relief programmes.

Carry Aadhaar if you have it. Treatment is not supposed to wait for ID. Denial of admission at a designated hospital can amount to a scheme violation. Ask the duty doctor to register the case as PM-RAHAT if the crash involved a motor vehicle.
