Bengaluru Water Security Plan: Karnataka Congress said its government is aggressively working to improve water security by filling lakes around Bengaluru under multiple valley projects. The statement was shared through an official social media post along with a related video highlighting ongoing lake rejuvenation efforts.
The Congress government said treated water is being supplied to hundreds of lakes under the KC Valley, HN Valley, and Vrishabhavathi Valley projects. Officials believe the large-scale initiative will help improve groundwater levels in and around Bengaluru, where water demand continues to rise every year.
According to the details shared in the post, treated water has already been supplied to 145 lakes in the first phase and 272 lakes in the second phase of the KC Valley project. Authorities called the project one of the largest lake restoration drives currently underway in Karnataka.
We saw the government also highlighting progress under the HN Valley project, where 89 lakes are currently being filled with treated water. Work connected to the third phase has entered the initial stage, and officials plan to extend water supply to another 272 lakes.
The Vrishabhavathi Valley project was also discussed in the update. Around 70 lakes were covered during the first phase, while work to fill 119 more lakes is ongoing under the second phase.

“Improving groundwater levels by filling lakes around Bengaluru is the commitment of the Congress government,” the Karnataka Congress stated in its social media message. The party said the projects are expected to strengthen long-term water availability for nearby towns and villages.
Bengaluru’s growing population has sharply increased pressure on groundwater resources over the past decade. Several reports have warned about falling water tables and rising dependence on tanker supply in many parts of the city.
The related video shared with the post showcased lake-filling operations, water channels, and infrastructure connected to the valley projects. Officials believe treated water reuse can help reduce water stress while also supporting agriculture and rural communities near Bengaluru.
