Hubballi MLA Mahesh Tenginkai watched a two-day state-level ram fighting competition held in Bengeri on October 14, 2026. The event, titled “Rajyamattada Jidda-Jiddina Tagarina Kalaga,” was organised by Sri Durga Anjaneya Prasanna Gelayara Balaga.
Manoj Valmiki and Prajwal Jadhav led the competition. High-quality rams brought from different parts of Karnataka took part and displayed their strength in the matches. Organisers described the contests as lively and closely watched by local residents.
Ashok Valmiki, Basavaraj Jadhav, VAK Foundation President Venkatesh Katwe, Jashwant Jadhav, Mutturaj, Shivanand Hebballi, Venkatesh Chachadi and other members of the group were present, along with local leaders. Tenginkai shared photographs of the gathering on social media after attending.
Ram fighting competitions remain a traditional sports activity in several parts of North Karnataka, usually held during festivals or community events.
The SSK Savaji community in Hubballi has been conducting these events since years during Dasara.
