Rioters try to kill mayor’s family in France: Home vandalized
In a shocking incident of civil unrest, a group of angry demonstrators stormed a mayor’s residence in a suburban town near Paris on Saturday night. They threw stones and Molotov cocktails at the windows, set fire to a car, and tried to force their way inside. The mayor, his wife and their three children were trapped in the house, fearing for their lives.
The police arrived at the scene and managed to disperse the attackers, who fled in different directions. No one was injured in the assault, but the house and the car were severely damaged. The mayor, who asked not to be named for security reasons, said he was targeted because of his political affiliation and his efforts to curb drug trafficking and crime in his town.
