Rituals for “Rohini Vrat”
People start their day by waking up early and taking a bath. On this day, Bhagavan Vasupujya is worshipped by the people. Bhagavan Vasupujya is one of the 24 Tirthankaras. After offering prayers to Bhagavan Vasupujya and taking his blessings, people observe fast. The idol of Bhagavan Vasupujya is worshipped with fruits, flowers, naivedhya and two outfits. The idol is made out of gold or copper. The fast is broken when the Margashirsha Nakshatra rises. People consume Udyapana to break their fast. People conclude their day by engaging in philanthropic activities.
People believe that observing fast on Rohini Vrat can instil virtues in people like patience, self-control and harmony. It also brings prosperity and unity amongst family members. Married women observe fast on this day for the health and longevity of their husbands. It can also help in bringing prosperity to people’s lives, by driving away poverty.

Rohini Vrat will fall on March 16, 2024. According to Drik Panchang, the Rohini Nakshatra will begin at 4:08 PM on March 15 and will end at 4:05 PM on March 16.
Rohini Nakshatra rises after daybreak once every 27 days, signalling the beginning of fasting for the devotees. Donating to the unprivileged on the day of Rohini Vrat is considered to be a holy activity.
