Chinese self-driving startup WeRide has officially launched its latest generation of mass-produced driverless taxis, the Robotaxi GXR, in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province.

The GXR is touted as one of the world’s most spacious robotaxi models. Eliminating the front passenger seat maximizes interior space. This innovative design integrates WeRide’s self-developed Level 4 autonomous driving hardware and software, featuring a new Sensor Suite and the HPC 2.0 high-performance computing platform.

Key Features of the Robotaxi GXR:

Comprehensive Redundancy System:

This system ensures passenger safety by preventing single-point failures with advanced architecture, steer-by-wire chassis, computing units, and braking systems.

Equipped with over 20 sensors, including high-performance, low-cost LiDAR, high-definition cameras, and an RTK high-precision inertial navigation set, providing 360° blind-spot-free perception and 200-meter front detection.

Spacious Design:

With a vehicle length of 5,018mm, an interior cabin height of 1,340mm, and a wheelbase of 3,100mm, the GXR offers unparalleled comfort and space for passengers.

The WeRide app lets passengers quickly locate GXR operating zones, select pickup points and destinations, and start their journey.

WeRide has maintained its leadership in the robotaxi industry, expanding its footprint overseas and operating the largest robotaxi fleet in the Middle East. With over 1,800 days of public robotaxi operation experience, WeRide continues to push the boundaries of autonomous driving technology.
