Zeeshan Siddique, son of the late Baba Siddique, has joined Ajit Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Friday, Oct. 25, 2024. This move comes just months after his expulsion from the Congress party and days after the tragic assassination of his father.
Expulsion from Congress
Zeeshan Siddique was expelled from the Congress party in August following allegations of cross-voting during the Maharashtra legislative council elections. The expulsion marked a tumultuous period for Siddique, who had been a prominent youth leader within the party.
“I was deeply hurt by the decision of the Congress party. My actions were misinterpreted, and I was not given a fair chance to explain myself,” Siddique stated in a recent interview.

Joining NCP
The decision to join the NCP was influenced by the recent tragic events surrounding his father’s death. Baba Siddique, a former Maharashtra minister, was shot dead outside his office, a crime that has sent shockwaves through the political community.
“My father’s untimely death has been a turning point in my life. I believe joining the NCP is the right step to continue his legacy and serve the people of Vandre East,” Zeeshan Siddique remarked.
Contesting from Vandre East
Zeeshan Siddique will be contesting from the Vandre East constituency, a seat that holds significant emotional and political value for the Siddique family. The constituency has been a stronghold for the family, with Baba Siddique having served the area for many years.
“I am committed to working for the development of Vandre East and addressing the issues faced by its residents. My father’s vision for this constituency will be my guiding light,” Siddique affirmed.
Support from Ajit Pawar
Ajit Pawar, the leader of the NCP, welcomed Zeeshan Siddique into the party, expressing confidence in his abilities and leadership.
“Zeeshan Siddique is a young and dynamic leader who has the potential to bring positive change. We are confident that he will uphold the values of the NCP and work tirelessly for the people of Vandre East,” Pawar said during the induction ceremony.
